Award Criteria
What is the Rising Star award
The Rising Star Award recognises and celebrates upcoming dressage horses that have demonstrated outstanding performance in their first year of EA Competitive Dressage.
The 15 highest performing horse and pony combinations (by percentage scores) during the qualifying period will be invited to the Rising Star Finals.
If more than 15 combinations qualify, the 15 finalists will be selected by calculating their four best aggregate scores.
In the event of a tie in qualifying, the additional horse/pony will be eligible to compete.
Where an eligible combination is unable to compete in the Rising Star Finals, the next highest qualifying combination on the list will be eligible to compete.
Qualifying Criteria
Qualifications must be achieved in Competitive graded Dressage competitions during the qualifying period.
Unless stated otherwise, the qualifying period will be from the 1st August to the close of entries for the event in the following year. Note that the event is typically held towards the end of each calendar year. For example 1st August 2025 – close of entries 1st November 2026.
Qualifications must only be achieved by one horse/pony and rider combination. The same combination must compete in the Final.
Hors Concours (HC) scores will not be accepted as qualifying scores.
At least two of the scores must be from Novice Dressage tests.
Eligibility The horse must not have competed in any of the following prior to the commencement of the qualifying period:
