Updated 25/07/2024 The objective of the Equestrian Western Australia State Dressage High Performance Pathway is to target and assist in the development of talented combinations. These combinations demonstrate the ability to achieve a high standard of excellence in the competition arena with the possibility of being competitive at a National (or International) level.
All squads are based on General and Competition criteria as listed below.
Once a combination achieves the necessary qualifications of the respective criteria, the combination will receive an invitation and letter from Equestrian WA via email. This will happen once the results are received by the office and will be dependent on the size of the squad. The athlete may remain on the squad for 12 months unless they are no longer meeting the criteria. Exemptions can be granted on application, for example in cases such as pregnancy, major injury etc. The athlete must return a signed Athlete agreement, code of conduct to be officially added.
Squads are reviewed biannually, in December and June to ensure all squad combinations have performances that meet the selection criteria.
The Squad will take part in a mid-year review. The rider must obtain two scores in their selected level or above before the 30th of June 2024 to remain on the squad. The Working Group will be able to add more combinations once they have reached the set criteria.
In order to take up their place on the Squad each year – the Rider must accept the invitation from Equestrian Western Australia to do so timelessly and execute the Equestrian Western Australia Squad Code of Conduct Agreement.
General Criteria
Squad athletes need to be current competitive members of EWA and their horse will have a full registration.
